Blaney, who won the championship last year, looked like he was going to win his first race of this season after a tough battle with Christopher Bell.
Cindric was catching up to Blaney with only three laps left in the 240-lap race, but then Blaney’s car suddenly slowed down.
This allowed Cindric to take the lead, and he managed to hold off Denny Hamlin to win the race by almost 4 seconds. It was his second win ever and broke an 85-race winless streak.
With this win, Cindric secured a spot in the playoffs, a big deal for him.
“I’m really sad for Ryan’s team. I don’t know what happened to them at the end. They deserved to win this race,” Cindric said. “This win means a lot to me and my team. I’m glad to win with Brian as my crew chief. You never know when it’s going to happen again.”
Brad Keselowski came in third, Tyler Reddick was fourth, and Joey Logano finished fifth.
Blaney eventually finished the race in 24th place, the last car on the lead lap.
During the first stage, Bell passed Michael McDowell to take the lead and won the stage. Blaney came in third.
In the second stage, Bell won again after Larson and Kyle Busch crashed on the last lap. Cindric finished second.
In the final stage, Cindric stayed out while others pitted and took the lead. Blaney was in the lead with 23 laps to go, but Bell was catching up fast. However, Bell’s car started having engine problems, allowing Cindric to take second place.
With 10 laps left, Blaney was ahead of Cindric by about 2 seconds, and he held on to win the race.
