Governor Sanwo-Olu: Lagos Red Line Rail Project Set for Commissioning by President Tinubu in a Few Weeks
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured the public that the 37-kilometre Red Line system (LRMT), spanning from Agbado to Otto, will be commissioned in a few weeks.
Sanwo-Olu made this announcement during a high-level meeting with the President and management of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) at its Beijing headquarters on Thursday.
The Governor emphasized that the upcoming commissioning marks a significant milestone, underscoring the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to improving transportation for millions of Lagos residents.
“Exciting times for Lagos. I am delighted to announce that the Red Line Rail project covering Agbado to Otto is ready for commissioning. With its inauguration just weeks away, we are set to provide more relief for commuters,” stated Governor Sanwo-Olu.
He further shared details of his productive meeting with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, expressing dedication to completing the second phase of the Blue Line Rail project.
The Governor highlighted the importance of the trip to Beijing, focusing on meeting with leadership and finalizing plans for an integrated transportation system that will benefit Lagosians through a long-term partnership.
Grateful for the collaboration with CCECC and the support of partners, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the promise to over twenty-two million Lagosians is rapidly becoming a reality.
He stated, “The traffic and transportation challenges will soon be history as we move forward. We also had discussions pertaining to the 4th Mainland Bridge, and it is certain that this project will begin shortly.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be present to commission the Red Line Rail system, extending from Agbado in Ogun State through Otto in Lagos.
“As we eagerly await the official commissioning, I’m pleased to share that HE President Bola Tinubu has agreed to grace the occasion heralding the launch of the Red Line Rail for commercial operations.”
