LAMATA initiates the commencement of a series of test runs along the 37-km Red Line Rail in preparation for its operational launch in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024.

During these test runs, one of the high-speed diesel-powered trains designated for the Red Line Rail Mass Transit project was deployed for evaluation.

The objective of these test runs, as highlighted by LAMATA, is to thoroughly assess operational readiness and address any potential issues prior to the commencement of full-fledged operations.

The Lagos State Government, represented by the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has embarked on the inaugural phase of test runs along the 37-km Red Line Rail in anticipation of its official launch in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024.

In a video shared across its official social media platforms, LAMATA showcased the deployment of one of the high-speed diesel-powered trains slated to serve the Lagos Red Line Rail Mass Transit project.

Accompanying the video, LAMATA stated, “From the horizon emerges one of the Red Line Train sets just ahead of the launch of Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line,” signifying the significance of this milestone.

These initial test runs, along with subsequent ones to follow, serve the crucial purpose of enabling LAMATA to meticulously evaluate its operational preparedness and promptly address any potential challenges in the weeks leading up to full-scale operations.

It’s worth noting that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently announced the procurement of additional rolling stocks (trains) for both the Lagos Blue Line and Red Line Rail operations during his visit to China.

Sanwo-Olu expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I am pleased to announce that we have secured additional trains – rolling stocks for the Blue Line and Red Line rail operations, aimed at providing relief to millions of Lagos residents.”

He further emphasized the collaborative efforts of the government’s team and its partners, highlighting the expected arrival of these new rolling stocks at various intervals throughout the year.
