Alpine has launched upgraded audio system packages tailored for the Model 3 and Model Y, enhancing sound quality for existing Tesla owners. The audio specialists emphasize that these systems are specifically engineered for Teslas.
They are designed to seamlessly fit into the factory speaker slots without necessitating any modifications, thus enhancing the listening experience without risking damage to the interior. So, what does the system include?
The base version comprises 11 speakers, featuring a 10-inch sealed subwoofer (200W), a 12-channel digital sound processor, two 80W four-inch midrange rear door speakers, two 100W 6.5-inch midrange speakers for the front doors (with one-inch speakers), and a trio of 120W four-inch midrange center dash speakers with one-inch center dash tweeters.
For the 13-speaker system, all the sound above equipment is included, along with a pair of 80W four-inch midrange rear deck speakers.
Alpine notes that the 11-speaker version is compatible with Model 3s equipped with the base audio system, while the premium audio option is suitable for the 13-speaker setup. Both systems are compatible with models as far back as MY2018.
In the case of the Model Y, regardless of the selected system, the electric crossover receives the 13-speaker upgrade package. Pricing remains consistent at $2,995 for either version, which may seem steep but is comparatively reasonable considering the prices of some luxury car audio systems.
Alpine assures that its amplifier consumes less than one mile of range per hour, even when playing full-volume music.
In other updates, the Model 3 Long Range has undergone a price increase following adjustments in December, now carrying a $1,500 price hike with a base MSRP of $47,490. Interestingly, this price point is just $500 less than the Model Y Long Range, marking an unusual move for Tesla.
Despite the recent significant facelift for the Model 3, customers may find themselves inclined to spend the additional $500 and opt for the larger and more practical Model Y LR, which typically commands a higher price.
When comparing the base variants, Model 3 and Model Y are now separated by $7,000. The latter may also see a price increase soon.
