During a recent operation in London and Essex, the police successfully recovered six stolen cars, including high-end vehicles like a Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV and an Aston Martin DB11.
The raid, conducted by Essex Police’s Stolen Vehicle Intelligence Unit (SVIU) in collaboration with teams from the Operational Policing Command, yielded a significant haul totaling over $1 million in value.
Among the vehicles seized were a Mercedes-AMG GT, valued at £40,000, and a Range Rover Vogue. Additionally, a Jeep Wrangler and a Toyota Alphard were discovered concealed within two storage containers.
Notably, the warrant also led to the recovery of an Aston Martin DB11 valued at £70,000 and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV worth £250,000, the latter being found just 24 hours after it was reported stolen.
All six luxury vehicles, which had been taken from addresses in Essex and London, were found intact, according to Essex Police. This successful operation adds to the track record of the SVIU, which recovered over 700 stolen vehicles in the previous year alone.
Chief Inspector Dan McHugh emphasized the ongoing efforts of law enforcement, stating, “Our initial inquiries estimate almost £1m worth of cars may have gone through this site, and the Rolls-Royce was recovered just 24 hours after it was stolen.”
He underscored that the work doesn’t stop with the recovery of the vehicles; the investigation will continue to identify and apprehend those responsible for the thefts and ensure the vehicles are returned to their rightful owners.
Chief Inspector McHugh highlighted the pivotal role played by the SVIU in combating such crimes, noting their swift action in seizing stolen cars shortly after they were reported missing.
He emphasized the unit’s expertise in examining seized vehicles to gather intelligence, which aids in locating other missing vehicles and cracking down on car theft rings.
