A semi-truck transporting several Tesla Cybertrucks and Model Ys was involved in an accident on I-25 south of Colorado Springs. Despite the chaos on the highway depicted in the aftermath images, the vehicles remained intact. The highway was closed for several hours following the incident.
The trailer carrying the cars tipped over after colliding on the evening of March 4, around 7:00 PM, outside Fountain, Colorado. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area between the Mesa Ridge Parkway and South Academy Boulevard exits to prevent traffic congestion.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the truck transporting the Teslas collided with a roadside barrier, veered across lanes, and ultimately collided with an oncoming Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet Silverado.
The impact with the pickup trucks caused the trailer to overturn. The semi-truck was traveling northbound on I-25 at the time of the incident.
A photo posted on a subreddit for Cybertruck owners revealed that all vehicles secured to the trailer remained in position, averting further damage and injuries. This incident underscores the significance of transportation safety protocols.
The overturned trailer blocked the highway lanes, necessitating a temporary closure for cleanup. The trailer was transporting Cybertrucks and Model Y crossovers.
The driver of the semi-truck and occupants of the F-150 emerged unscathed. However, a teenager and their passenger in the Chevy Silverado sustained serious injuries and were transported to the nearest hospital.
Two additional vehicles, a Mercury Grand Marquis and a Dodge Challenger, were struck by debris. State Patrol confirmed that the debris did not originate from the seven Teslas on the trailer, indicating no damage to the vehicles, unlike a recent incident involving a vehicle colliding with the Beverly Hills Hotel sign.
The Teslas are expected to be delivered to customers on schedule. Avoiding damage to brand-new cars during transportation is crucial for both buyers and the manufacturer.
With the Cybertruck in high demand, customers face wait times of up to five years unless opting for the Foundation Series, currently the only variant available for delivery.
