Formula E, celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, has announced a new concept aimed at enhancing the championship’s appeal to manufacturers. The initiative, revealed ahead of the Sao Paulo E-Prix, introduces the Manufacturers’ Trophy—a competitive element designed to showcase manufacturer performance across races.

Under this concept, the top two performing cars from each manufacturer in every race will be selected, with points awarded based on the existing scoring system used for drivers’ and teams’ championships.

The Manufacturers’ Trophy aims to provide a platform for manufacturers to showcase their engineering prowess and innovation in the all-electric championship.

Alberto Longo, co-founder of Formula E, highlighted the importance of attracting diverse manufacturers to the sport, emphasizing discussions with the FIA to introduce different championships within the series.

The Manufacturers’ Trophy will undergo a soft launch during the current season, with plans for it to become an official FIA World Championship from Season 11 onwards.

The introduction of the Manufacturers’ Trophy reflects Formula E’s agility and flexibility as it continues to evolve and adapt. Backdating the trophy to include races from the current season aims to create excitement and engagement among fans, reinforcing Formula E’s commitment to innovation and competition.
