While established motorcycle manufacturers cautiously navigate the transition to electric propulsion, a burgeoning cadre of startups is revolutionizing the industry landscape. Among them, Tarform Motorcycles emerges as a frontrunner, heralding a new era of eco-conscious electric motorcycles.
Founded in Brooklyn in 2016 by Taras Kravtchouk and Jean Christian Jung, Tarform Motorcycles distinguishes itself with a commitment to sustainable materials and advanced technologies.
Following the success of their inaugural electric cafe racer, Luna, Tarform unveils Vera, a groundbreaking electric motorcycle poised to redefine urban mobility.
Vera epitomizes performance and sustainability, blending street and scrambler aesthetics to accommodate diverse riding experiences. Powered by an air-cooled electric motor delivering 55 kW (74 hp) and 116 ft-lb (157 Nm) of torque, Vera boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 0 to 60 mph (97 kph) in just 3.5 seconds.
Underpinning Vera’s performance is a 102 V, 8 kWh lithium battery pack, facilitating a city range of 100 miles (160 km) with rapid 2-hour charging capability. Noteworthy features include Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, and an aluminum frame supporting a modular drivetrain for enhanced durability and flexibility.
However, Vera’s allure extends beyond performance, prioritizing sustainability and aesthetics. Constructed from lightweight aluminum and plant-based composites, Vera showcases a sleek design underscored by eco-friendly materials and minimalist aesthetics.
Furthermore, Vera integrates advanced tech, including a 3.4″ Retina display with Bluetooth and 4G connectivity, offering health monitoring, over-the-air updates, and access to statistics via the Tarform mobile app.
Priced at $16,000, Vera embodies Tarform’s commitment to accessible, high-performance EV mobility, with deliveries slated to commence in 2025. With Vera, Tarform not only expands its EV portfolio but also establishes itself as a key player in the transition toward sustainable urban mobility.
