The 2024 DTM rulebook introduces several changes, with the most significant being a restriction on testing. Additionally, the ADAC has made adjustments to other regulations for the upcoming season.

In response to teams’ requests, the first practice session for each round has been extended by 10 minutes to 55 minutes. This change aims to provide more track time for drivers to prepare for race weekends, compensating for limited testing opportunities.

The qualifying format remains unchanged, with pole shootouts on Saturday and Sunday mornings preceding the races in the afternoon. Despite discussions about condensed schedules, the weekend format remains consistent.

A notable change impacting strategy calls involves mandatory pitstops during full-course yellow (FCY) or safety car periods. Tire changes during these periods will not count towards the mandatory stop, aiming to equalize the field and avoid disadvantaging drivers who pitted before.

Another significant alteration is extending the top five rule to the top 10. Drivers starting within the top 10 must begin the race on the same set of tires they qualified on, impacting tire warm-up and durability.

Schubert Motorsport, fielding three cars this season, has been granted a second pitstop station. However, starting from the second round of the season, the two best-placed drivers from Schubert must share one pit box, while the third driver will have their own station, allowing flexibility in tire strategy.

The ADAC aims to prevent unfair advantages between teams with different car numbers by implementing this rule. Despite initial inquiries from teams, the ADAC believes the regulation promotes fairness, ensuring the weakest driver has an advantage.

Schubert Motorsport’s lineup includes former champions Rene Rast, Marco Wittmann, and Sheldon van der Linde, forming a formidable factory BMW lineup for the upcoming season.
