Fisker is getting ready with dealerships but is hitting the brakes on production. Even though their only car, the Ocean electric SUV, is still on hold.
Fisker is growing their dealership network in the US. Their latest addition in Miami brings the total to six dealerships across Georgia, Indiana, New York, Florida, and South Carolina.
They also have three “Fisker Centers” in the US and are expanding in Europe with 12 new dealerships (on top of the existing four) and 18 centers. This focus on dealerships might be aimed at appeasing Ocean owners who are unhappy about software problems, dropping resale values, and worries about getting their car serviced.
Fisker’s Ocean electric SUV is facing a bumpy road. Production is currently paused to “align inventory” after the company found itself with a surplus of built cars (around 4,700 out of 11,000). To clear out stock and potentially raise cash, Fisker slashed prices dramatically.
The base Ocean went down a whopping $14,000 to $24,999, and the top-end Extreme got a $24,000 haircut to $37,499. However, these deals seem hard to come by which is fueling frustration among existing owners who paid the original much higher prices.
On a brighter note, the new dealership in Florida should improve the service experience for Fisker customers in that state.
