Deliveries of the Tesla Cybertruck have been delayed after a new owner reported an issue with the accelerator pedal. Elon Musk assured that there were no injuries or accidents resulting from this incident, emphasizing caution.
The owner, Jose Martinez, claimed that his accelerator pedal got stuck while driving, causing the truck to crash into a pole. He explained on TikTok that the pedal’s cover came loose and pinned the accelerator to the ground, resulting in full throttle.
Tesla confirmed the halt in Cybertruck deliveries following Martinez’s TikTok post, with Musk responding to concerns raised on social media. The pause affects all Cybertruck deliveries for seven days, which is meant to address the accelerator issue.
Despite Martinez’s accident, Musk asserted that there were no previous accidents due to the accelerator problem. Martinez emphasized that hitting the brake pedal allowed him to override the stuck accelerator and slow down the vehicle.
The delay in Cybertruck deliveries coincides with Tesla’s announcement of workforce reductions, with plans to cut more than 10% of its global employees. This pause reflects Tesla’s commitment to ensuring vehicle safety and addressing any potential issues promptly.
The recall affected 3,878 cybertrucks, highlighting Tesla’s proactive approach to quality control and customer safety. While the incident raised concerns, Tesla aims to resolve the accelerator issue swiftly to resume deliveries and maintain its reputation for innovation and safety in the electric vehicle market.
