The state of Colorado is giving people who love weed a chance to show their passion on their cars. Colorado was the first state to make weed legal for adults to use back in 2014. Since 2021, they’ve been holding an auction every year to sell special license plates with weed themes. The money they make from this auction goes to help people with disabilities in Colorado. This year, the auction includes plates like “420,” “NUGGET,” “Reefer,” and “Grass.”
The Lieutenant Governor of Colorado, Dianne Primavera, thinks this auction is a great way to support people with disabilities. She says it’s a good way to celebrate Colorado’s weed industry while also helping others.
But before you rush to buy one of these plates, remember that using weed and driving can be dangerous. The Colorado Department of Transportation says that if you’re caught driving impaired, you could get arrested for DUI, even if you’re not really drunk. So, having a weed-themed license plate might attract unwanted attention from the police.
If you want to bid on one of these special plates, you have until April 27th at 4:20 PM. But remember, winning the bid only gets you the plate. You still have to pay the regular registration fees, plus extra fees if you want special designs on your plate.
