13-yr Old Destroys Lamborghini During Test-drive After Convincing Seller He Was Old Enough To Drive

A 13-year-old boy’s deception led to the destruction of a Lamborghini Huracan during a test drive after convincing the seller he was of legal driving age. The incident occurred on a rainy night when the teenager, accompanied by a friend, took the $500,000 sports car for a spin before crashing it into a ditch off the Trans-Canada Highway. Despite the severity of the crash, both underage individuals emerged unscathed, leaving the scene before the authorities arrived.

Police investigations estimated the speed of the vehicle at approximately 100 km/h (62 mph) at the time of the crash. The teenager was later found at his residence, located a short distance from the accident site. It was revealed that the registered owner of the Lamborghini likely did not know the true age of the young driver, nor were they aware of his lack of license to drive in British Columbia.

West Vancouver Police Sgt. Chris Bigland emphasized that the inability of the young driver to control the vehicle in adverse weather conditions and at high speeds was a significant factor contributing to the accident. He highlighted the importance of sellers taking extra precautions to ensure the capability and legality of potential buyers before entrusting them with high-performance vehicles.

The teenager now faces charges for four driving offenses under the Motor Vehicle Act, including speeding, driving without due care, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, and driving without a valid license. The incident serves as a cautionary tale regarding the importance of verifying the credentials and capabilities of individuals before allowing them to test-drive expensive and powerful vehicles.
