A California motorist learned the hard way that ingenuity has its limits, especially when it comes to navigating Los Angeles traffic. Attempting to skirt congestion by utilizing the carpool lane with a mannequin as a faux passenger may seem clever, but it’s a risky move.
Recently, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Santa Fe Springs intercepted such an attempt, highlighting the consequences of such tactics. The CHP shared the incident on Instagram, showcasing the motorist’s plastic companion, which, although possibly convincing at a distance, fell short upon closer inspection.
Adding to the folly, the driver committed further violations by crossing solid double white lines in front of an officer. Despite the effort, the motorist couldn’t evade the consequences and was cited for multiple carpool violations. The CHP’s post humorously noted the mannequin’s sharp appearance but ultimately emphasized that plastic, no matter how creatively presented, doesn’t qualify as a legitimate passenger.
