The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has refuted claims made by the online newspaper, Daily Nigerian, regarding the procurement of a vehicle worth N250 million without due process by the Acting Director-General, Captain Chris Najomo. According to the spokesman for the Authority, Mr. Michael Achimugu, the report was labeled as “fabricated, baseless, and untrue,” highlighting the failure of Daily Nigerian to conduct proper investigations before publishing the story.
Achimugu addressed the press at the NCAA Headquarters in Abuja, emphasizing that Captain Najomo has not purchased any vehicle since assuming office in December 2023. He challenged Daily Nigerian to provide evidence of the purchase, stating his willingness to resign and advising the Acting DG to do the same if proof is presented. Furthermore, he hinted at potential legal action against the medium and the reporter for disseminating false information.
The spokesman clarified that Captain Najomo has been without an operational vehicle since taking office, as the previous Director-General, Capt. Musa Nuhu had left with the vehicles in his possession. This refutes the claim made by Daily Nigerian regarding the procurement of a Toyota Land Cruiser by Captain Najomo.
Daily Nigerian had reported over the weekend about the alleged procurement of a 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser (70th Anniversary Edition) SUV by Captain Najomo, citing a lack of due process. However, the response from the NCAA counters these claims, indicating that there was no such purchase made.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has strongly denied the allegations made by Daily Nigerian regarding the procurement of a vehicle by Acting DG Captain Chris Najomo. The Authority has labeled the report as false and lacking on a factual basis and is prepared to take legal action if necessary. Captain Najomo has remained without an operational vehicle since assuming office, as clarified by the spokesperson for the NCAA.
