First-year 2nd Term: Sanwo-Olu Delivers 178km Roads, 2.6km Bridges, Says 253 Other Projects Are Ongoing

The Lagos State Government has announced the completion and commissioning of 172 roads, spanning a total of 177.93 kilometres, as part of its initiative to bolster infrastructure to accommodate the State’s burgeoning population. Additionally, there are 253 ongoing projects comprising 298.22 kilometres of roads, 2.510 kilometres of bridges, and 3.13 kilometres of other infrastructural developments across various areas in the state.

During a Ministerial Press Briefing commemorating the first year of the second term of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, highlighted the government’s commitment to progress and development, showcasing several transformative infrastructural projects currently underway in Lagos.

Among the notable ongoing projects mentioned by Daramola is the 3.89km Ojota – Opebi Link Bridge and Approach Roads, designed to establish a direct route connecting Opebi, Mende, Maryland, and Ojota. Additionally, the 643m-long Abiola-Onijemo link road with a 135m-long bridge is being constructed as part of these efforts.

The delivery of these infrastructural projects is viewed as instrumental in realizing the goals outlined in the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda and the broader vision of positioning Lagos as Africa’s model smart city. These projects aim to alleviate transportation challenges, enhance connectivity, and improve the overall quality of life for Lagos residents.

Several ongoing road projects were also highlighted, including the Babafemi Dada with Bridge-Yinka Folarin-Jamiu Lawal-Shalom Academy Road Network in Alimosho Local Government Area, aimed at providing improved access and connectivity in Baruwa community. Additionally, projects like the upgrading of Old Ojo Road in Amuwo Odofin into a dual carriageway and the Eti-Osa – Lekki – Epe Expressway are aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure across different parts of the state.
