Reports emerged of an incident involving Dyego Sousa’s Ferrari in central Madrid, Spain, allegedly crashed by his wife. Upon arriving at the scene, the soccer star found his sports car severely damaged, though fortunately, his wife emerged unscathed. However, the following day, she took to social media to deny being the driver at the time of the accident.
According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, the 40-year-old Brazilian woman was indeed behind the wheel of the Ferrari Portofino, registered under Dyego Sousa’s name, and was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Despite her denial on social media, security camera footage reportedly corroborated her involvement, showing her failing a breathalyzer test.
The incident not only resulted in significant damage to the Ferrari but also led to the involvement of a friend of Dyego’s wife, who allegedly attempted to pass himself off as the driver. Nevertheless, surveillance footage revealed the truth.
The Ferrari Portofino, valued at $230,000 when new, boasts a potent 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, capable of propelling it from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 199 mph. However, following the crash, its fate was sealed as it was towed away from the scene.
