Matt DiBenedetto, a seasoned racer at 32, has had an extensive career in NASCAR, participating in nearly 250 Cup races. Despite not clinching a victory, he achieved notable success with three runner-up finishes and made it to the 2020 playoffs, concluding the season in 13th place overall.

Transitioning to the NASCAR Truck Series with Rackley W.A.R. in 2022, DiBenedetto experienced a breakthrough by securing his inaugural national-level win at Talladega Superspeedway later that year. Although he made the playoffs in the following season, his tenure was cut short as he was released before its conclusion, leaving his future in the sport uncertain.

However, DiBenedetto resurfaced at the end of March, marking his return to the Xfinity Series after a five-year hiatus. Driving for Viking Motorsports at Richmond Raceway, he finished 18th, showcasing his versatility across different racing categories. Despite limited starts, he managed a commendable top-ten finish at Talladega, the pinnacle of his NXS career spanning 73 starts.

Viking Motorsports has now confirmed DiBenedetto’s role as the driver for the No. 38 car for the remainder of the 2024 season. Team owner Don Sackett expressed enthusiasm about this partnership, citing DiBenedetto’s skill and dedication as assets that align with the team’s ambitions for success and growth.

With DiBenedetto leading the charge, Viking Motorsports anticipates a promising trajectory for the season and beyond, aiming to capitalize on opportunities and engage their fans, partners, and supporters.

Reflecting on DiBenedetto’s past, his involvement in Xfinity races has been sporadic, with 2014 being the only season where he participated in over 20 races. Despite his limited appearances, he managed a respectable 21st position in the championship standings that year, underscoring his ability to adapt and compete across different racing series.
