Abu Dhabi and Dubai aren’t the sole trailblazers in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM); Ras Al Khaimah, the UAE’s sixth-largest city, joins the forefront. Collaborating with a renowned vertiport developer, local transport and tourism authorities start on an ambitious eVTOL mobility project.
With an anticipated influx of 3.5 million annual visitors, Ras Al Khaimah aims to offer zero-emission transportation options by the decade’s end. Imagine tourists traveling seamlessly from Al Marjan Island to the majestic Jebel Jais, UAE’s highest peak, via electric taxis, drastically cutting travel time and emissions.
Recognizing the pivotal role of infrastructure in realizing this vision, Ras Al Khaimah partners with Skyports to develop a robust network of vertiports. Together with RAKTA and RAKTDA, Skyports will oversee the project’s design and commercial operations, seamlessly integrating it into existing transport networks.
Established in 2018, Skyports boasts a track record of pioneering infrastructure projects, including the Skyports London Heliport and similar ventures worldwide. Collaborations with eVTOL manufacturers like Volocopter signal the company’s commitment to advancing AAM infrastructure globally.
In parallel, VPorts, another major player in AAM infrastructure, is set to construct a cutting-edge eVTOL hub in Dubai South, featuring dedicated flight test airspace for eVTOLs. These initiatives underscore the UAE’s determination to lead in electric air mobility, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.
