In the race at Tempelhof Airport circuit in Berlin, Nick Cassidy from New Zealand won by 4.6 seconds. He started from the ninth position and only took the lead in the last four laps of the 46-lap race, which was longer due to two safety car periods.
Cassidy was very strategic during the race. He conserved energy early on by dropping to the back of the field. However, in the final laps, he made his move to the front and secured his second win of the season. Jean-Eric Vergne and Oliver Rowland finished second and third respectively in the high-energy Formula E race.
At the beginning of the race, Edoardo Mortara, who started from pole position, held the lead for the first two laps. However, he later lost the position after activating his first Attack Mode. Throughout the first 10 laps, there were several lead changes among drivers like Stoffel Vandoorne, Vergne, and Pascal Wehrlein.
A full course yellow and safety car period were called on lap 10 after Joel Eriksson’s car stopped on the track. After the restart, Vergne led the pack, followed closely by Wehrlein and Vandoorne. Mitch Evans briefly took the lead but missed activating his Attack Mode, which affected his strategy later in the race.
Maximilian Guenther’s challenge towards the front ended when he crashed into the wall, causing another safety car period. Evans briefly regained the lead after the restart but was overtaken by Wehrlein and Rowland.
In the closing laps, Vergne seemed poised for victory, but Cassidy, with saved energy, swiftly overtook him and secured the win. Vergne managed to hold onto second place ahead of Rowland, while Evans finished fourth. Jake Dennis, despite challenging at the front, suffered a puncture and dropped out of contention.
The race saw Taylor Barnard, in his second Formula E start, clinch his first Formula E point, finishing in the top 10 after having to pit for a new front wing earlier in the race.
