In Germany, at the Tempelhof Airport circuit, the DS Penske driver did something impressive. He finished a lap in just 1 minute and 1.937 seconds. This was the only lap under 1 minute and 2 seconds in the two three-hour sessions. The Berlin E-Prix double-header was held there over the weekend.

During the day, he drove for 82 laps. In the first session, he was the fastest with a time of 1 minute and 2.150 seconds. In the afternoon, his best lap was just two-tenths slower than the fastest lap of the entire E-Prix weekend, which was set by Mahindra’s Edoardo Mortara at 1 minute and 1.741 seconds.

There were some other notable performances too. Kush Maini and Frederick Vesti from Mahindra did well in their first Formula E car drives. Vesti, who is a Mercedes F1 Junior and last year’s F2 runner-up, came third in the morning session and seventh later in the day. Maini, who has been on the F2 podium and is part of Alpine’s F1 young driver programme, finished fifth fastest for the day.

Another driver to watch was Jak Crawford from Andretti. It was his Formula E debut, and he posted the second-fastest time of the day with 1 minute and 2.110 seconds.

There were some challenges too. Felipe Drugovich from Maserati MSG caused a red flag when his car stopped on the track. Dries Vanthoor also crashed his Envision car, which meant he couldn’t continue driving for the rest of the day.

But despite these challenges, there were positive moments, like Alice Powell driving the Envision car, focusing on development work, and completing 56 laps, the most of any driver in the afternoon.

Marta Garcia, the reigning F1 Academy champion, also had a good day, finishing 18th and just 1.225 seconds behind Shwartzman’s best time for ERT, even though she had never driven a Formula E car before.
