Sometimes when you’re driving, things can go wrong. You might not pay attention for a moment and hit another car. Or maybe you do everything right, but someone else hits you. It’s not fun, but accidents happen. In Phoenix, Arizona, something unusual happened during a car crash. According to AZFamily, one of the cars hit a fire hydrant, which made a hole in the ground that almost swallowed the car.

This crash happened around 7:30 in the morning near the Desert Sky Mall. An SUV, which looked like a Ford Expedition, crashed into a sedan, which looked like an Infiniti G37. It’s not clear what caused the crash. But the impact from the SUV made the sedan hit a fire hydrant, and water flooded the area. Sadly, the water from the hydrant made a muddy hole in the ground that quickly swallowed the sedan.

The good news is, the driver of the sedan was able to get out of the sinking car before it sank too deep. He and two others had only minor injuries. But the woman driving the SUV was critically injured and had to go to the hospital.

A crane later pulled the sedan out of the muddy hole. If you’re in Phoenix, you might be curious to see it, but it’s probably just covered in mud now. We’re not sure if the driver of the sedan should feel lucky or unlucky. Maybe they should avoid going out for a while, just in case. It feels like something out of a scary movie!
