About 90 minutes into practice, 25-year-old Swedish driver Lundqvist was following two other cars when his car spun out and hit the wall at Turn 2.
The crash damaged his car and made it wobble towards the inside wall before he regained control and stopped on the track.
Luckily, Lundqvist, one of the rookies in the race, was okay and walked away with some help from the safety team.
His teammate Scott Dixon noticed that his own car felt loose in a similar way, so he decided to come in and check it.
But Lundqvist explained that he touched the inside curb, which caused his car to lose control.
He felt sorry for his team, acknowledging that they worked hard on the car and that it was his mistake.
Even though it was tough, he believed they could recover from it before the race.
Before the crash, Lundqvist had completed 23 laps and was sixth fastest overall with a speed of 226.261 mph.
