PepsiCo announced on Tuesday that it will add more electric vehicles to its fleet in California. They will put 50 big Tesla Semi trucks and 75 Ford E-Transit electric vans in their facilities in the state soon. This move is part of PepsiCo’s plan to use more electric vehicles to reduce its carbon footprint. They want to have zero net emissions by the year 2040.
Back in 2017, PepsiCo ordered 100 Tesla Semis. This was the largest public order for these trucks at that time. But according to Reuters, PepsiCo is only using 36 of these trucks right now. They didn’t get all the trucks they ordered.
The new Tesla semi trucks will work at PepsiCo’s factory in Fresno, California. PepsiCo is using some money from a grant to help pay for this expansion. The grant comes from the California Air Resources Board, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, and the California Energy Commission.
