Google is planning to update cars with Google Built-In, like the Volvo EX90 and the Nissan Rogue, with new features. These include entertainment apps like Max, Peacock, and even Angry Birds.

There’s no exact date for when these updates will happen, but Google says they will come to “select cars.” This means not all cars with Google Built-In will get these new features. Right now, about 40 different car models have Google Built-In. Along with that, cars with Android Automotive OS will get Google Cast. Rivian’s R1T and R1S will be the first to have this feature.

These new streaming apps are only usable when the car is parked. It’s a good option when your car is charging or if you’re waiting in the car for a long time. But when you start driving, streaming will automatically stop.

If you don’t have a car with Google Built-In and use Android Auto instead, there are updates for you too. The Uber Driver app is now available, which makes it easier for Uber drivers to accept jobs and get directions on the car’s central display. This means they won’t have to rely on their phone screen anymore.

Gaming is becoming more common in cars. BMW showed new streaming and gaming functions at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show. Mercedes-Benz cars, like the E-Class, have apps like TikTok, Zoom, and even Angry Birds. Ford is also working on something exciting.

The media found a patent for headlights that can project gaming feeds onto a wall or canvas. This creates a big screen for gaming, but it only works where the feed can be projected. In-car gaming is already popular in Tesla cars. Google keeps innovating, so we’ll have to wait and see when these updates, like Angry Birds, will come to cars like the Volvo EX90.
