There are many good reasons to buy an electric car. You have lots of options, from simple ones like the Nissan Leaf to fancy ones like the Rimac Nevera. But there are still some problems that stop more people from getting electric cars.

It’s easy to drive an electric car for your daily trips or around town. But planning a road trip is harder. It’s not always easy to find places to charge your car along the way. Many hotels only have a few chargers, so they’re often full. And if you rent a house or cottage, there might not be any chargers at all. Airbnb saw this problem and decided to help.

ChargePoint is teaming up with Airbnb to help hosts put chargers on their property. Now, hosts can get a discount on chargers and installation. They get 25% off a ChargePoint charger and $100 off installation. The first 1,000 hosts to sign up also get an extra $200 off.

More and more people want to stay in places with chargers when they go on vacation. Airbnb says they saw an 80% increase in people looking for places with chargers from 2022 to 2023.

Having a charger can also help hosts make more money. Data shows that hosts with chargers get booked more often and make more money. The places where people look for chargers the most are California, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Washington, and North Carolina.

Having more chargers available is good for hosts and renters. But there’s still more to be done. Rivian’s charging network is open to all electric cars now, and some electric cars can use Tesla’s Supercharger network with an adapter. The government is also spending a lot of money to build more charging stations, but it takes time. So, partnerships like this one between Airbnb and ChargePoint are helping fill the gap for people who already have electric cars.
