Bugatti is going to show off the new version of the Chiron soon. It’s got a cool V16 Hybrid engine. Some people were worried it might be Bugatti’s last car with a gas engine. But Mate Rimac, the CEO, says not to worry. He says gas engines are sticking around. Even if there are penalties, Bugatti will make what its customers want. Rimac says, “I don’t see any reason not to make them beyond 2035, we have developed a completely new engine, and we want to use that engine for a while.”

Bugatti has a long history. It was started by a guy named Ettore Bugatti in 1909. It made lots of cars for the road and for racing. But after Ettore died in 1947, the company stopped in 1952. It came back briefly in 1963 but really got going again in 1998 when Volkswagen Group bought it. Then in 2005, they made the Veyron, which set the style for Bugatti’s cars now.

Some people are worried about new rules in Europe that might stop companies from making gas cars after 2035. But Rimac isn’t worried. He says the rules don’t actually ban gas cars, they just might have some extra fees. And now, the rules say companies can use synthetic fuels too. So, Bugatti has two ways to keep making gas cars.

Rimac even has an idea for Bugatti owners. He says they could make special gas stations just for Bugatti cars. These stations would have special synthetic fuel. But owning a Bugatti isn’t cheap. You might have to pay a lot of taxes or pay $50 for a gallon of fuel.

Bugatti wants to make its cars even better. Rimac says people expect Bugattis to be perfect. But sometimes, making a perfect car takes a lot of time and money. Bugatti wants to make sure its new cars are top quality.

We’ll have to wait until June 20th to see the new Bugatti. It’s going to be shown at the Bugatti headquarters in France.
