Canapino responded to claims made by Theo Pourchaire, about receiving online abuse. Pourchaire and Canapino collided during a race in Detroit, which caused them both to lose positions. Pourchaire later shared that he received threats online because of this incident.
This isn’t the first time such claims have been made against Canapino. Last year, his former teammate Callum Ilott also faced online abuse after a race incident. After Pourchaire spoke out, Canapino’s social media account liked a post that mentioned Pourchaire.
Canapino later released a statement denying the claims against his fans. He said that while he doesn’t support abuse, he doesn’t believe his fans are responsible for it. He urged people not to generalize and judge all Argentine fans based on the actions of a few.
He also mentioned that he receives hate online too but chooses to ignore it. He emphasized the importance of respect and tolerance in society.
IndyCar, the racing organization, also released a statement condemning online abuse and reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a welcoming environment for everyone involved in the sport.
