Stellantis is recalling more than 211,000 SUVs and pickup trucks because of a software problem. This issue could make the electronic stability control systems in the vehicles stop working. The recall affects some vehicles from the 2022 model year, including Dodge Durangos and Ram 2500-3500 heavy-duty trucks.
According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these trucks might have a problem with their anti-lock braking control module. This problem could lead to the stability control failing, which is an important safety feature. This could increase the chances of a crash happening.
A spokesperson from Stellantis said they found out about the issue after checking feedback from customers. The company hasn’t heard about any injuries or accidents related to this problem.
Around 211,581 vehicles made between April 2021 and December 2022 are affected. The company has specific numbers for each type of vehicle: 524 Ram 3500s, 157,890 Ram 2500s, and 53,167 Dodge Durangos.
This recall also includes 17,462 vehicles in Canada, 2,313 in Mexico, and another 5,023 in markets outside North America.
To fix the problem, dealers will update the software for the anti-lock braking control module. This repair will be free for owners, like all recalls. Dealers and owners will get letters about the recall in late July. Until then, drivers can check if their vehicle is part of the recall by using the NHSTA recall site or Chrysler’s recall lookup. They will need to enter their VIN number to do this.
