The start of the weekend was tough for the 38-year-old Romain Grosjean. He crashed on his first flying lap during the opening practice last Friday. Despite this setback and qualifying in 14th place in mixed weather, Grosjean believed they had a chance in the race. After avoiding early trouble and using a three-stop strategy, he found himself fighting in the top 10.

On the final lap, Grosjean managed to pass Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward and finished seventh. This was his second top 10 finish of the season and his best with JHR. Grosjean expressed his pride in the team’s performance, especially considering their challenging start to the weekend.

The result was a morale boost for JHR, which had faced controversy involving Agustin Canapino in the previous week. Canapino’s interactions with fans on social media led to a termination of the team’s alliance with Arrow McLaren. Grosjean commended his team for staying focused amidst the distractions and apologized to his engineer for his frustration after qualifying.

Grosjean had experienced a series of tough races since April, including incidents with other drivers. Despite this, he believed in the team’s strength and consistency throughout the season. After a disappointing Friday, Grosjean was pleased with how they bounced back in the race.

With his best result since last year, Grosjean flew to Europe to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Iron Lynx-run Lamborghini team over the weekend.
