Cruising the streets of London in a flashy supercar is a summertime dream for many car enthusiasts. However, London authorities are aiming to curb inconsiderate driving behavior, including loud engine revving for attention.
This recently came to a head when a driver in a rare Mosler MT900 found his prized possession impounded by police in Westminster Square. While the official reason for the seizure was not the engine noise itself, but the driver’s inability to produce a valid international license, the showboating certainly attracted unwanted attention and ultimately led to the car’s confiscation.
With only 35 road-legal MT900s ever produced, this incident serves as a cautionary tale for those tempted to prioritize showing off over following the rules.
A joint operation by London’s Metropolitan Police and Westminster City Council resulted in a surprising haul in mid-July. A driver, lacking a valid license, was caught revving the engine of a rare Mosler MT900, a car valued well above $450,000.
This wasn’t the only unusual seizure a custom-built e-scooter, costing around $19,200, was also confiscated from a rider clad in Predator-themed gear. The crackdown targeted a variety of offenses cyclists disobeying traffic signals, vendors lacking permits, and generally disruptive behavior.
Councilor Paul Dimoldenberg highlighted the public’s frustration with both recklessly parked e-scooters and the summertime nuisance of supercar drivers revving their engines. The fate of the seized vehicles remains unclear, with previous instances suggesting the police might even crush some expensive cars.
