While DS Automobiles, a Stellantis-owned brand, may not be as well-known in the United States as other brands under the same umbrella, it’s a significant player in the global automotive market, particularly as a premium brand aiming to compete with Audi and BMW.

As part of its commitment to electric vehicles, DS plans to introduce a new model, the DS 8, a unique blend of sedan and crossover. This innovative vehicle, spotted testing on public roads, offers a spacious interior and a modern design, combining the sleekness of a sedan with the practicality of a crossover.

The DS 8’s design features a sleek and aerodynamic silhouette, with a low-slung roofline that hints at its sporty aspirations. The front fascia is characterized by a bold grille flanked by sharp headlights, while the side profile showcases a flowing line that stretches from the front fender to the rear. The rear end is characterized by a prominent tailgate and sleek taillights.

Inside, the DS 8 is expected to offer a luxurious and technologically advanced interior, with high-quality materials and a minimalist design. Features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, comfortable seats, and advanced driver assistance systems are likely to be included. The DS 8 will be powered by an electric powertrain, with a long-range battery pack and a powerful electric motor.

This will enable the vehicle to deliver impressive performance and efficiency, while also contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future. The rear of the DS 8 showcases a conventional tailgate, a slightly raised third brake light, and a standard bumper with a cutout for the license plate.

The shark fin antenna adds a touch of sophistication, while the rear door handles are cleverly integrated into the thick rear pillars, enhancing the car’s sleek profile. The front doors feature flush handles, further contributing to its clean and modern appearance. Based on reports, the DS 8 will be underpinned by Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, a versatile architecture designed for compact and mid-size vehicles.

This platform is already used in models like the Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008, Opel Grandland, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Jeep Compass. Additionally, a new DS-branded vehicle is expected to share this platform in 2026, along with a fresh Opel model, a potential Alfa Romeo Giulietta revival in 2028, and a similar product from Lancia.

The use of the STLA Medium platform will likely provide the DS 8 with a solid foundation for a comfortable and refined driving experience. The platform’s modular nature also offers flexibility for different body styles and powertrain options, potentially including hybrid and electric variants.

With its distinctive design and advanced technology, the DS 8 aims to appeal to discerning drivers who value both style and substance. The upcoming model represents a significant step forward for the DS brand, solidifying its position as a premium automaker offering innovative and luxurious vehicles.
