BMW is recalling a small number of its 2023-2024 SUVs and sedans due to a potential issue with the integrated brake system. The recall affects models like the X1, X5, X6, X7, XM, 5 Series, and 7 Series, including their electric versions.

The problem lies in the brake modules, which could lead to reduced or lost power brake assist. This, in turn, could affect the anti-lock brake and stability control systems. However, the mechanical braking and emergency brake force distribution would still work.

The recall affects 11,579 vehicles, with the most affected being the 2023 BMW X1. BMW is expected to start sending recall notices to owners in November.

The BMW Group has issued a recall for several models due to potential issues with the rear brake calipers. The affected vehicles include the X5, X6, X7, 5 Series, and 7 Series. The recall covers vehicles produced between November 12, 2022, and October 18, 2023.

The most powerful model affected by the recall is the i7 M70, which boasts a dual motor setup capable of producing 650 horsepower and 749 pound feet of torque. Despite its impressive performance, the i7 M70 carries a hefty price tag of $168,500.

The most affordable model affected by the recall is the rear drive 530i, which starts at $58,200. The recall comes as a result of a manufacturing defect that could cause the rear brake calipers to seize.

If the rear brake calipers seize, it could cause the vehicle to lose braking power and increase the risk of an accident. The BMW Group is urging owners of affected vehicles to bring their vehicles in for a free inspection and repair.

The recall is a reminder that even the most advanced vehicles can be affected by manufacturing defects. It is important to be aware of recalls and to take action to ensure the safety of your vehicle.
