A classic Pontiac Firebird met an unfortunate end in a recent incident, crashing head-on into a pole. The vintage muscle car, believed to be a 1974 model, was part of a trio of classic American muscle cars that had gathered at a car meet.

The video footage shows the three cars, including a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS and a late 1960s Chevy Camaro, waiting at a traffic light. As the light turned green, the Chevelle and Camaro took off, but the Firebird, seemingly driven by an overzealous enthusiast, lost control and collided with the pole.

This incident highlights the risks associated with car meets, where drivers often push their vehicles to the limit, sometimes with disastrous consequences. While classic car enthusiasts gather to appreciate these automotive icons, it’s crucial to remember that these vehicles are often irreplaceable and should be treated with respect.

The Pontiac Firebird driver, intent on showcasing his skills, continued to perform donuts in the intersection, revving the engine to fascinate the onlookers. Yet, this reckless display soon took a perilous turn. As the driver aggressively accelerated away, he lost control of the vehicle, sending it careening off course and colliding violently with a nearby light pole.

The aftermath, captured on social media, revealed the extent of the damage inflicted upon the classic car. The front end was severely mangled, with the headlight shattered, the grille distorted, and the hood pushed back.

The right fender was also significantly damaged, casting doubt on the vehicle’s future. It remains uncertain whether the insurance company will deem the repair costs justifiable or the car will be declared a total loss.
