Toyota has officially confirmed the return of the Celica as an electric vehicle (EV) during the Tokyo Motor Show. The announcement was made by Toyota’s Executive Vice President, Yuki Nakajima, who stated, “We will make the Celica.”
This marks the first official confirmation of the much-anticipated eighth generation Celica. The new Celica EV is expected to feature a dual-motor setup, providing all wheel drive capabilities and impressive acceleration.
Early reports suggest the vehicle will produce around 400 horsepower and offer a range of over 300 miles on a single charge. The design will honor the Celica’s heritage with sleek, aerodynamic lines and a sporty silhouette, incorporating modern touches like advanced lighting and aerodynamics.
Inside, the Celica EV will boast a high tech, driver focused cockpit equipped with the latest infotainment systems, digital displays, and premium materials. Safety features will include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking.
Toyota’s broader strategy includes launching 15 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2025, aligning with its commitment to sustainable mobility and carbon neutrality.
The Celica EV is expected to attract both long-time fans and a new generation of eco-conscious drivers, making it a standout in the competitive electric sports car market.
