Honda has officially launched the 2024 Prologue SUV, its first fully electric vehicle, marking a significant milestone for the brand in the EV market. Built on GM’s Ultium platform, the Prologue offers impressive features tailored for the modern driver.
With a maximum EPA-estimated range of up to 296 miles for the front wheel drive EX trim, the Prologue delivers on both performance and practicality. The all wheel drive models achieve a range of up to 281 miles, catering to a variety of driving needs.
Pricing for the Prologue starts at $47,400 for the base EX FWD model, with federal tax credits bringing the cost down to as low as $39,900, excluding destination fees. Higher trims, such as the Elite AWD, are priced at $57,900 before credits.
This makes the Prologue a competitive option in the electric SUV segment, especially considering its affordability when paired with incentives like a $229 per month lease deal now available in 17 states. These offers include $1,000 bonus cash for existing Honda lessees or those switching from competitor brands.
The Prologue features a spacious and tech forward cabin equipped with built-in Google services, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring a seamless digital experience for drivers. Unlike GM’s EV offerings, Honda retained these integrations, emphasizing user-friendly connectivity.
The Prologue’s design includes a sporty suspension system for an engaging driving experience, highlighting Honda’s focus on comfort and performance. Since its initial deliveries began in March 2024, the Prologue has quickly climbed the ranks in the U.S. EV market.
It became the fifth best selling EV in the third quarter of 2024, outperforming competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID.4. In October alone, over 4,100 units were sold, exceeding sales of the Ford Mustang Mach-E. These strong numbers demonstrate Honda’s growing foothold in the EV space.
The Prologue represents a strategic step for Honda as it aims to electrify its lineup. With its combination of range, affordability, and features, the SUV is poised to attract a broad audience and further solidify Honda’s position in the EV market.
