Ford Motor Company recently announced a series of recalls impacting nearly 400,000 vehicles. These recalls, filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on December 20, affect a variety of models, including trucks, SUVs, and cars. The recalls address a range of safety concerns, from mechanical failures in the drivetrain of heavy-duty trucks to electrical issues in hybrid and electric SUVs. Affected vehicle owners will receive notification letters, and Ford customer service is available to assist with repairs.
Among the most significant recalls are those affecting Ford’s heavy-duty trucks, particularly diesel pickups and commercial vehicles. A total of 295,000 trucks are impacted, including specific 2020-2022 Ford F-Super Duty F250, F350, F450, F550, F600 models, as well as F-650 and F-750 vehicles from the 2021-2022 production years. The concern is that biodiesel deposits may form on the pump drivetrain roller components, potentially causing the high-pressure fuel pump to fail. This issue could lead to vehicle malfunction and an increased risk of a crash.
Ford also issued recalls for various SUVs due to potential safety risks. Over 20,000 Ford Escapes from 2020-2024 model years and approximately 4,000 Lincoln Corsairs from 2021-2024 are affected by concerns that their high-voltage batteries may short-circuit. Another recall involves 30,317 Ford Flex vehicles, which have a problem with their analog rearview cameras. These cameras could distort images or go blank, which may impair the driver’s ability to safely reverse or navigate the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident.
In addition to these recalls, Ford is also addressing issues with some of its newer SUV models. Nearly 48,000 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles from the 2024-2025 model years are being recalled due to a malfunction in their automatic window reverse systems. If the system fails, there is a risk that passengers could be pinched by the window before it retracts. Ford is also recalling over 12,000 Ford Fiestas and 802 Lincoln MKTs from the 2019 model year due to issues with their rearview cameras.
Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to receive notices in the mail informing them of the recalls and providing guidance on the necessary repairs. Ford has emphasized that vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service for assistance, ensuring that safety concerns are promptly addressed. These recalls reflect Ford’s commitment to maintaining the safety and reliability of its vehicles, taking necessary steps to correct any identified issues.
