Los Angeles is making it easier for electric vehicle (EV) owners to find parking and charge their cars with designated EV-only parking zones. These zones are part of the city’s commitment to cleaner transportation and sustainability.
LAX EV Parking
At Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), EV owners can charge their vehicles in the Central Terminal Area garages and the Economy Parking garage on level 1. Additional charging stations are available in the following parking structures:
- Parking Structures 1 and 6: First and third levels.
- Parking Structure 5: Third and fourth levels.
To use the charging stations, download the PowerFlex app, set up an account, and start charging your vehicle.
Cal State LA EV Parking
Cal State LA offers many EV parking options in its parking structures and lots. Here are the key locations:
- Parking Structure A: 3 stations with 6 ports on the ground level.
- Parking Structure B: 1 station with 2 ports on the B-Level.
- Parking Structure C: 1 station with 2 ports on the Blue Level.
- Parking Structure E: 36 ports on the first three levels.
- Parking Lot 3: 2 stations with 3 ports.
- Parking Lot 6: 1 station with 2 ports.
- Parking Lot 10: 2 stations with 4 ports.
Rules and Penalties
In California, parking a non-EV vehicle in a designated EV-only parking space is illegal unless the vehicle is actively charging. Violators can face traffic penalties, ensuring that these spaces remain available for EV owners who need them.
By creating these zones, Los Angeles is making EV ownership more convenient while promoting clean and sustainable transportation.
