A devastating car crash that claimed the lives of Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson and two of his former high school teammates has led to serious legal action.
The 23-year-old driver, Cori Clingman, has been indicted on 13 criminal counts, including negligent manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of July 6, 2024, on northbound Route 4 near Presidential Parkway. According to investigators, Clingman was behind the wheel of an Infinity Q50 when she attempted to change lanes.
In doing so, she collided with a Dodge Charger carrying Jackson, Anthony Lytton Jr., and Isaiah Hazel. The impact of the collision caused the Charger to veer off the road, strike multiple tree stumps, and come to a violent stop. All three occupants of the Charger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy described the incident as a “horrific tragedy,” underscoring the profound loss felt by the victims’ families and the wider community. Clingman now faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
Braveboy assured the public that the legal proceedings are ongoing and that the indictment is just the beginning of the fight for justice for the victims and their families.
Khyree Jackson, a Maryland native, had recently been drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL Draft following an impressive career at the University of Oregon.
His promising future was cut short by the fatal crash. The Vikings organization expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Jackson, mourning the death of a young athlete with immense potential.
