The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has confirmed that three people lost their lives in a major early-morning crash near Ignace last week.

OPP officers, along with fire and emergency medical services, responded to the collision, which involved two commercial motor vehicles, located west of Ignace just after 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, according to a news release from the Dryden OPP.

“Three individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene,” stated OPP regional media and communications coordinator, Sgt. Hayley Mcleary, in an email sent on Monday.

“While the investigation remains ongoing, no charges are being considered at this time,” Mcleary added.
