Ford is closing out 2025 in its familiar fashion: issuing a trio of new recalls. This week, the automaker announced safety actions in the United States affecting the Mustang Mach-E, Escape Hybrid, and Maverick.
While some issues can be fixed via over-the-air updates, others require in-person service at a dealership.
The most significant of the recalls impacts the 2025–2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E. An internal investigation revealed that a failure in the LED control module could result in the headlights ceasing to function entirely.
A defective module could disable not only the high and low beams but also the position lamps, turn signals, and daytime running lights.
Ford reports that 45,047 units are affected, all produced between June 6, 2024, and October 1, 2025. The company states that no accidents or injuries have been linked to this headlight problem so far.
Customers will start receiving recall notifications between January 26 and January 30. To fix the issue, Ford plans to release an over-the-air (OTA) software update in April.

The second recall involves 6,897 Ford Mavericks from 2025–2026, built between August 7, 2025, and September 5, 2025.
The concern centers on the instrument panel topper, which may not be properly welded to the passenger airbag chute doors. In the event of a crash, the panel could detach and strike an occupant.
Unlike the Mach-E issue, this defect cannot be corrected with a software update. Owners of affected Mavericks will need to visit a local Ford or Lincoln dealer for a replacement of the instrument panel topper.
The final recall affects a very small number of 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid vehicles, just 87 units built between November 6, 2019, and December 15, 2022.
The problem lies in the hybrid powertrain control module software, which can unexpectedly shift the transmission into neutral while driving. Attempting to return the car to drive triggers limp mode, limiting speed to 30 mph.
To address this issue, Ford and Lincoln dealers will perform a free software update. Notifications for this recall are expected to be sent to owners between January 26 and January 30.
