The Ram Power Wagon’s newly available 6.7-liter Cummins HO diesel, rated with best-in-class torque, sounds capable of shifting a mountain or two.
Ram is ringing in 2026 with a major upgrade by giving the 2500 Power Wagon the engine option many believe it should have had all along.
For the 2027 model year, the heavy-duty off-road pickup can now, at long last, be ordered with the 6.7-liter Cummins High Output turbodiesel. And yes, as expected, it brings an enormous surge of torque with it.
That figure stands at a staggering 1,075 lb-ft, which Ram says makes it the most torque-rich truck in its class. If that weren’t impressive enough, the big straight-six diesel also delivers 430 horsepower. Its sheer mass means it won’t be launching like a sports sedan, but it’s safe to say it could tow a couple of them without even noticing.
Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis says customers have been asking for the 6.7-liter Cummins specifically in the Power Wagon for quite some time. Until now, that engine option was limited to Laramie trims and above, while the Power Wagon made do with the 6.4-liter HD Hemi V8.
“Matching the Power Wagon with the Cummins turbo diesel delivers everything our hardcore Ram fans expect: off-road capability with the best diesel in the HD segment. It’s the Power Wagon they’ve been waiting for,” said Kuniskis.

No heavy-duty pickup discussion would be complete without towing and payload figures. Ram says the diesel-powered Power Wagon is capable of towing nearly 20,000 pounds and offers a payload rating of roughly 3,000 pounds. Several available options are also designed to make towing duties easier.
Available upgrades include a fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep package in the bed, along with the Towing Technology Group and Tow Technology Plus Group.
Selecting these packages adds features like additional camera views, trailer tire-pressure monitoring, a digital rearview mirror with Tow Technology Plus, and more. Buyers can also opt for self-leveling automatic air suspension, which includes a bed-lowering function.
As expected from the Power Wagon trim, the Cummins-equipped version retains all the off-road hardware the nameplate is known for.
That includes standard skid plates, rock sliders, and Bilstein monotube dampers. Locking differentials are fitted at the front, center, and rear, while 34-inch all-terrain tires handle rough terrain. A disconnecting sway bar further improves suspension articulation, which is especially useful when navigating deep ruts or uneven trails.
Standard equipment also includes advanced driver-assistance systems, a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, front and rear parking sensors and cameras, and an integrated trailer brake controller.
Optional upgrades range from a larger 14.5-inch infotainment display and a dedicated front-passenger screen to audio systems from Alpine or a 17-speaker Harman/Kardon setup, along with extended leather trim. For those planning extended off-grid adventures, a massive 50-gallon fuel tank can be specified to significantly extend driving range.
The 2027 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is scheduled to reach dealerships by mid-2026 with a starting price of $88,470. For buyers who don’t want to wait, Ram has also introduced new trims for the full-size pickup lineup for the 2026 model year.
