Toyota’s newly announced GR Yaris Ogier 9x Champion Edition will be offered in extremely limited numbers and sold via a lottery system in Japan, pairing bespoke four-wheel-drive tuning with distinctive styling elements.

Toyota Gazoo Racing is adding yet another collector-focused chapter to the GR Yaris lineup with the introduction of the GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition.

Unlike typical limited-production models, this version won’t be available through standard dealer orders. Instead, Toyota has confirmed that, at least in Japan, buyers will have to enter a purchase lottery, effectively turning ownership into a matter of chance rather than priority or timing.

Toyota first showed a prototype of the Ogier edition during the WRC Rallye Monte-Carlo, positioning it as a tribute to Sébastien Ogier’s ninth world championship title, a milestone that ties the all-time record in the World Rally Championship.

According to Toyota, the special edition is built on the GR Yaris Aero Performance Package and then enhanced with a range of Ogier-specific mechanical, visual, and software updates designed to reflect his driving preferences and rally background.

For the Japanese market, Toyota plans to allocate just 100 units, with applications opening in the spring of 2026 via the official Toyota GR app. Winners of the lottery will earn the opportunity to purchase the vehicle.

Toyota has also confirmed that an additional 100 units will be earmarked for select European markets. Pricing has not yet been announced, as the model remains in development and final specifications may still evolve.

The most significant mechanical change comes in the form of a new four-wheel-drive control setting known as SEB. mode, which replaces the standard Track mode.

Toyota says this setup uses a 40:60 front-to-rear torque split and is engineered to preserve sharp front-end response while delivering a more rear-biased driving feel at higher speeds. The new mode appears in the full TFT instrument cluster alongside Morizo mode, underscoring that this edition is focused on driving dynamics rather than being a purely cosmetic upgrade.

Toyota has also detailed an extensive list of exclusive visual and interior features. On the outside, the car is finished in a unique Black Gravite paint, paired with matte black wheels and blue brake calipers featuring Ogier-themed branding.

A tricolor accent on the grille references the French flag, while unique side graphics, a special rear-door emblem, and a Morizo-linked autograph detail on the windshield further distinguish the car from standard GR Yaris models.

Inside the cabin, the Ogier edition receives a leather-wrapped vertical handbrake, tricolor stitching on the steering wheel, a numbered serial plate, and a motorsport-inspired steering wheel with a reduced diameter and revised control layout. Together, these elements reinforce the rally-bred intent behind the special edition.

This type of high-profile, ultra-limited model aligns neatly with Toyota’s broader strategy of using performance-driven products to elevate its overall brand image. While the company’s commercial success continues to rely on practical vehicles and efficient powertrains, Gazoo Racing has become a key pillar in projecting enthusiasm, authenticity, and motorsport credibility.

That contrast is part of the appeal. As Toyota’s mainstream lineup increasingly emphasizes sensible, everyday transportation, the Ogier edition exists at the opposite extreme, a rare, rally-connected collectible made even more elusive by the decision to sell it through a lottery rather than a conventional order book.
