Pilot Travel Centers has entered into a partnership with Tesla to roll out Semi Chargers at select locations across the United States, with the first installations scheduled to go live in the summer of 2026.

Under the agreement, Pilot Travel Centers will host Tesla Semi charging infrastructure at locations along key freight routes including I-5, I-10, and other major transportation corridors. The initial sites are expected to begin operating in summer 2026, with construction slated to start in the first half of the year at travel centers in California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.

Each participating location will be equipped with between four and eight charging stalls powered by Tesla’s V4 cabinet technology. These chargers are capable of delivering up to 1.2 megawatts per stall.

According to Tesla, a 30-minute charging session can restore most of the Semi’s estimated 500-mile driving range, aligning with the standard federally mandated rest breaks for commercial drivers.

At launch, the charging network will be dedicated to supporting Tesla’s Semi trucks. However, both companies have indicated that the system could eventually be expanded to accommodate heavy-duty electric vehicles from other manufacturers.

In a statement, Pilot said: “Helping to shape the future of energy is a strategic pillar in meeting the needs of our guests and the North American transportation industry.

Heavy-duty charging is yet another extension of our exploration into alternative fuel offerings, and we’re happy to partner with a leader in the space that provides turnkey solutions and deploys them quickly.”
