Buyers of the Chevrolet Z06, ZR1, and ZR1X will be able to take part in a special hands-on program this spring and will receive exclusive keepsakes to mark the occasion.

Participants assemble their engine alongside a technician and receive a plaque, a gift, and a professional photo. Pricing has not yet been revealed, and participation will be limited.

Purchasing a brand-new Corvette is already a milestone for most buyers, and owning a mid-engine sports car or supercar only adds to that excitement. Now, Chevrolet is set to elevate the experience even further by reopening its Corvette Engine Build Experience this spring.

Previously offered exclusively for the LT6 engine in the Corvette Z06, the program is returning for the Z06 and expanding to include the ZR1 and ZR1X models as well.

The announcement was made on LinkedIn by Ray Theriault, Corvette Plant director at General Motors, who invited eligible buyers to take part at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant’s Performance Build Center. Once the experience is complete, GM will also provide participants with several mementos to help commemorate the occasion.

During the experience, participants will suit up and help assemble either the LT6 engine found in the Z06 or the LT7 engine used in the ZR1 and ZR1X, working alongside a master technician. To mark their involvement, Chevy will fit the engine with a custom plaque, ensuring each participant leaves a personal signature on their powerplant.

In addition, buyers will receive an exclusive gift along with a professional photo keepsake, offering proof to any skeptics that they truly helped build their own high-performance engine. Accessing the program requires selecting RPO Code: PBC (Performance Build Center) when ordering a new Z06, ZR1, or ZR1X.

Pricing for the experience remains unknown. Theriault’s LinkedIn announcement did not include cost details for the limited-availability program, and while Chevrolet has shared the news on the Corvette Experience page of its website, encouraging interested customers to reach out to their dealer, the option has yet to appear on Chevy’s build-and-price configurator. For reference, the Engine Build Experience was previously offered on the C8 Z06 for $5,000.

This program helps set the Corvette apart in the high-performance car landscape. Brands such as Ferrari, Pagani, Lamborghini, and Bugatti do not offer customers the chance to help assemble their own engines. In the case of the ZR1X, the Engine Build Experience allows buyers to take part in creating a machine capable of outperforming many of those storied marques.

That performance was demonstrated recently when the ZR1X posted multiple quarter-mile records. Even with a starting price of $209,700, the ZR1X delivers acceleration that rivals cars costing 10 or even 20 times more, sprinting from 0–60 mph in 1.68 seconds and covering the quarter-mile in 8.675 seconds at a trap speed of 159 mph.

Having a direct hand in assembling an engine capable of such achievements would undoubtedly make the ownership experience even more memorable.
