Nvidia will provide its DRIVE Hyperion architecture and DRIVE AV software to support Level 4 autonomy in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class robotaxi program.
Nvidia announced it will supply its Drive Hyperion hardware platform along with its full-stack Drive AV Level 4 software for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which has been engineered to support robotaxi operations.
The system is designed to run end-to-end artificial intelligence alongside traditional, rules-based driving software in parallel. These vehicles will be accessible to passengers via Uber’s mobility network, expanding on Nvidia’s previously disclosed partnership with the ride-hailing company.
The Drive Hyperion platform brings together a diverse array of sensors, including cameras, radar, and lidar, paired with redundant computing systems.

Nvidia said its Halos safety framework is integrated to reduce the risk of single points of failure. The Drive AV software is trained using Nvidia’s DGX systems and validated through high-fidelity simulation, leveraging Omniverse NuRec libraries and Cosmos world models.

In a statement, Nvidia founder and Chief Executive Jensen Huang said: “Mercedes-Benz has set the standard in the automotive market, building cars defined by exquisite craftsmanship and safety engineering. Five years ago, Nvidia began working with Mercedes-Benz to help carry that legacy into the AI era.”
According to Nvidia, the software combines AI-based decision making with a parallel classical safety system to ensure the vehicle operates within clearly defined limits.
The company said this architecture is intended to deliver a premium, chauffeur-like autonomous driving experience, while also managing challenging edge cases such as unpredictable pedestrian movement, roadway debris, and unusual driving conditions.
The new S-Class, powered by Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS operating system, was officially showcased at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart on January 29, 2026, as part of the automaker’s 140th anniversary celebrations.
