Volvo Car UK has officially stepped into the light commercial vehicle segment with the debut of the fully electric EX30 Cargo, marking the brand’s first offering tailored specifically for business and fleet use.
Positioned as a premium alternative in the compact van category, the model is aimed at companies seeking a balance between practicality, efficiency, and upscale features.
Derived from the EX30 compact SUV, the EX30 Cargo adapts Volvo’s passenger-focused design into a functional commercial format. The vehicle is priced from £36,010 on the road and will be distributed exclusively through Volvo’s fleet sales network.
The EX30 Cargo has been developed through a second-stage conversion process, replacing the rear seating area with a flat load floor and a fixed bulkhead.
This configuration provides up to 1,000 litres of cargo capacity along with a payload rating of 390 kilograms, making it suitable for a range of urban and light-duty commercial applications.
Volvo will offer the model in two configurations: the standard EX30 Cargo and the EX30 Cross Country Cargo. The latter features increased ground clearance, making it better suited for more demanding operating conditions.
Additional functional upgrades include rear doors designed with a wider opening angle, integrated underfloor storage solutions, dedicated mounting points for securing loads, and a built-in cargo work light to improve usability in low-light environments.

According to Volvo, the EX30 Cargo has been developed in response to rising demand from fleet operators transitioning toward electrification while still requiring dependable safety, practicality, and ease of use.
Jack Munford, head of fleet at Volvo Car UK, said: “While we are best known for our passenger vehicles, we recognise that business owners and fleets also want the quality, safety and technology that Volvo is renowned for in a compact commercial vehicle too, which is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo.”
The EX30 Cargo will be available with a range of powertrain configurations, including the new MY27 P3 extended-range version capable of delivering up to 300 miles on a single charge. Additional variants, such as the higher-performance P5 and P8 models, will also be offered to meet varying operational requirements.
Standard equipment includes Volvo’s Safe Space technology suite, integration with Google Automotive Services, and a selection of advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and park assist.
Higher specification trims further enhance the vehicle’s positioning within the premium compact van segment, adding features like Pilot Assist, a Harman Kardon audio system, and upgraded comfort-focused elements.
