HA new report indicates that General Motors may be preparing to bring back the Chevrolet Camaro, with the next-generation model expected to share its foundation with the upcoming Cadillac CT5.

According to the report, the revived Camaro would be built on the same platform as the next-generation CT5, pointing to a continued emphasis on rear-wheel-drive performance architecture. This approach follows GM’s previous strategy, where the Camaro shared its underpinnings with Cadillac sedans to balance performance and development costs.

Production is anticipated to take place at GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan, the same facility currently responsible for building the CT5. The timeline suggests manufacturing could begin in the fall of 2027, aligning the launch of both models.

If these plans move forward, GM is expected to produce between 60,000 and 70,000 units annually, combining output for both the Camaro and CT5. This would represent a significant return for the Camaro nameplate, which was discontinued after the 2024 model year following declining demand and shifting priorities toward electrification.

The reported revival also signals that GM is not fully stepping away from internal combustion performance vehicles. Instead, the company appears to be recalibrating its strategy by integrating traditional sports cars into shared platforms with premium sedans, potentially improving efficiency while maintaining enthusiast appeal.

While official confirmation remains absent, the possibility of a new Camaro built alongside Cadillac’s next-generation sedan suggests a notable shift in GM’s product planning. If realized, it would mark the return of one of Chevrolet’s most recognizable performance models, albeit in a form that may differ from previous generations.
