Porsche is in the works of developing a new flagship SUV, internally dubbed “K1,” which is anticipated to surpass the mid-size Cayenne in size and stature. The K1 is projected to accommodate seven passengers, featuring a more angular roofline compared to its counterparts.

Equipped with a cutting-edge 900-volt electrical system, the K1 aims to revolutionize charging times, complemented by air suspension and rear-axle steering for enhanced maneuverability.
Recently, a prototype of the K1 was sighted undergoing testing near Porsche’s development facilities in Germany, offering insights into its substantial proportions and design nuances.

Sporting a lengthier and more robust stance than the Cayenne, the K1’s squared-off roofline and distinct window profile hint at its spacious interior, possibly accommodating three rows of seating. While camouflaged bumpers conceal their precise aesthetics, familiar headlight contours akin to the 2024 Macan EV and slender taillights are noticeable.

Though Porsche has not officially disclosed the seating capacity, speculation suggests the K1 will provide room for up to seven occupants. Engineered on an advanced version of Volkswagen’s Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), the SUV is poised to integrate a 900-volt battery, enabling rapid charging capabilities, with a potential of reaching 80% charge in just 12 minutes.

Additionally, four-wheel steering and an electronic differential promise agile handling reminiscent of Porsche’s performance legacy. Standard features are expected to include an adaptive air suspension system and state-of-the-art driver-assist technologies.

Upon its release, the Porsche K1 will enter a competitive arena, contending with luxury EV rivals such as the two-row Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, the seven-seat Rivian R1S, and the forthcoming Range Rover EV.

With an anticipated price tag exceeding $100,000, the K1 is set to rival the top-tier Cayenne Turbo, with production slated to commence in 2026 and sales scheduled to kick off in the U.S. for the 2027 model year.
