LG Energy Solution (LGES) is set to launch new, more powerful cylindrical batteries for electric cars. These batteries, called 4680-type, will be larger and more efficient. Tesla first introduced them, but now LGES is joining in. These batteries will allow electric cars to go farther on a single charge.

LGES will start making these batteries in South Korea and plans to expand production to the United States and possibly China. This is important because it means more electric cars can qualify for government incentives.

Apart from these batteries, LGES is also working on another type called LFP batteries. These batteries could be used for electric cars or for storing energy in homes. LGES expects to start making them by 2025.

Overall, LG Energy Solution’s new batteries will make electric cars better and more widely available, helping to reduce pollution and dependence on fossil fuels.
